Nicolas Becker is one of the most sought-after foley artists, sound designers and composers in the world. He tries to find an original process for each film, putting forward a uniquely creative reasoning in order to obtain very special material. He has collaborated with filmmakers including Roman Polanski, David Cronenberg, Matthieu Kassovitz, Andrea Arnold and Danny Boyle. In 2013, he received his second Golden Reel award for his work on Gravity by Alfonso Cuarón.Recently Becker was the sound designer of this year’s Cannes Jury Prize winner, American Honey and did the foleys worked to create the sound and texture to create the sound design of the Aliens in last Denis Villeneuve Film “Arrival”.
Becker is also a research and development consultant for many studios and firms who create audio software. He teaches regularly in film schools including La Femis in Paris and the NFTS in the UK. He is also a member of the band, Manasonics.
He is now expanding his work into areas of sound art and sound supervision on a variety of projects: sound artistic director for the DAU project (Russia); sound supervisorand Musical director for Philippe Parreno’s next exhibition at The Turbine Hall (NEW TATE LONDON), and at the Melbourne ACMI.
Composer for the films Corps Etranger from Raja Amari ,Ghost Hunter from Read Andoni, a Prayer for a Down de J.S.Sauvaire . He will be the sound designer for the next albums of electronic musician Agoria and Jacques, Musical director and sound supervisor for an operatic project for the Opera Garnier in Paris and the Fenice in Venise with the composer Arvo Part.
