ifs internationale filmschule köln, Germany

The ifs Internationale Filmschule Köln is a renowned full study and further education institution serving aspiring media professionals. The school, founded in 2000, is an initiative of the North Rhine-Westphaliastate government and the Film-und Medienstiftung NRW. The ZDF broadcasting company, along with the Film-und Medienstiftung NRW, is also a principal partner of the ifs.

At the core of the ifs are three Bachelor programs with a total of six majors (Screenwriting, Film Directing, Creative Producing, Director of Photography, Editing Picture and Sound, and Visual Arts) and one international Master program (Screenwriting), with three more Masters in preparation. Eleven further education programs provide training to young audiovisual media professionals teaching them to meet the constantly growing demands of the industry both nationally and internationally.

The ifs was the first film school in Germany to combine picture and sound editing in one course, and this ground-breaking approach still sets us apart. EPAS applicants will benefit from the school’s interdisciplinary outlook, thanks to a variety of further education courses that offer additional practical input from areas as diverse as Interactive Media and Production Design. For EPAS, the ifs offers a broad network of professional contacts, both nationally and internationally, with whom students will have the opportunity to work within the areas of both montage and sound.
